Kyparissia may not belong to the Ionian Islands, but it too is bathed by the cool blue-green waters of the Ionian Sea. It is no coincidence that Cypress Bay is the place where loggerhead turtles choose to lay their eggs. This in itself testifies to the amazing beaches as well as the quality of the waters of the bay.

Whether you are looking for organized beaches or quieter ones, the beaches of Cyprissia will enchant you. Many of the city’s beaches, as well as those located a few kilometers from it, have been awarded a blue flag and provide services such as sunbeds, but without losing their natural beauty.

Even on the organized beaches, such as that of Ai-Lagoudi and Kartela, you will not encounter the overcrowding that prevails on the islands. And this is what makes Kyparissia an ideal destination for quality holidays without meaning that there is no shortage of fun. Most of the bay’s beaches are large in area, so you can enjoy sunbathing on the golden sands without being disturbed by your neighbor. Here the tourist development is in harmony with nature and keeps unchanged both the character of the place and its beauty.

For those who prefer organized beaches with sunbeds, beach bars or canteens, then we suggest you head to Ai-Lagoudi or Kartelas. The first is accessible on foot as it is very close to the town of Kyparissia, while the second is only 3 kilometers from it. Both beaches are preferred by locals and families. Especially in Ai-Lagoudi there is also a lifeguard, whenever the beach is ideal for small children.

Sani beach is another popular beach in the area, located 5 kilometers north of Kyparissia. Here you will also find sunbeds and a canteen for a quick snack, but this does not mean that you cannot use your own umbrella on the organized beach, if you wish. To reach this beach, you cross olive groves with centuries-old olives, which remind you that you are in the place of production of quality virgin olive oil, Messinia. Other beaches of the bay that are very close to the city are that of Giannitsaina, the quiet beach of Terpsithea, the small cove of Stomio which is surrounded by high rocks with strange formations and the beach of Kalos Nuvas.

This village is only a few minutes away from Kyparissia, but it attracts many tourists from Greece and abroad who have loved it so much that they have bought holiday homes in the area. Its beach is particularly beautiful and unlike the other sandy beaches of the bay, it consists of small and large white pebbles, while the waves of the Ionian that reach here make it ideal for windsurfing. On the road above the beach there are tavernas and cafes where you can try delicious seafood and enjoy a dreamy sunset. However, holidays at this beach are accompanied by respect for the environment since Kalo Nero is a nesting beach for sea turtles and is a protected zone, just like the beaches of Elia and Agiannakis.

On these beaches you will see protected turtle nests while you can watch the loggerhead turtle protection volunteers at work. The area belongs to the Natura 2000 network not only for the endangered sea turtle but also for the unique sand dunes located at the back of the beaches.

These wonderful beaches, with their dark golden sand and the green mountains that surround them, are havens of peace for those who want carefree days of relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. The Neda flows into the beach of Elaia, while behind the beach of Agiannakis is the coastal pine forest of the same name. The combination of all these elements of nature stages an idyllic landscape that will forever remain in your heart for its authenticity which we must preserve.

The golden beaches of Kyparissiakou, with fine sand and white pebbles, clear blue and crystal clear waters are waiting for you to experience their unique and raw beauty!
